Chrono AG was founded in 1982 by Theo Ingold, the father and grandfather of the current owners. His goal was to create Swiss watches that would mean much more to their owners than just timepieces. Today, in its second generation, the family-owned company proudly looks back on over 40 years of successful Swiss watchmaking.

MADE IN SWISS – FROM DESIGN TO PRODUCTION

From the first watch sketch to the finished product, all production stages are carried out and monitored at own headquarters in Solothurn, Switzerland. In the spirit of Swiss watchmaking traditions, Chrono AG commits to producing all watches in accordance with official Swiss Made standards – a mark that signifies high quality craftsmanship, technical expertise, innovation and competence, as well as aesthetic values.

HISTORICAL LOCATION IN OLD WATCHMAKING SCHOOL

At its headquarters in Solothurn, Chrono AG not only creates watches in the spirit of Swiss tradition, but also has the honor of doing so within walls that embody more than 100 years of Swiss watchmaking tradition. Originally built in 1915/1916 by the watch company Stadler-Bouché, the building was soon occupied by one of the first Swiss watchmaking schools, where, until 2002, this leading global educational institution trained a successful generation of watchmakers. After the school moved to larger premises, in 2003, Chrono AG acquired the building and completely renovated it, transforming it into a home where the passion for Swiss watchmaking continues to develop and refine.

PASSION FOR PRECISE WORK DONE BY HAND

At Chrono AG’s ateliers, precise work done by hand is at the heart of watchmaking skills. Watchmakers have been extensively trained and are professionals in their field. Each watch is assembled, controlled and packaged manually. This is how Chrono AG guarantees the «Swiss Made» quality of their watches. Every Chrono AG watch bears honour to the Swiss watchmaking tradition.

The Chrono AG watch production process takes many different production steps until a Chrono AG watch makes its way into the world as a functional chronometer of time. From the selection of the necessary components to the printing of the dial, the actual work of assembly, engraving of the case back, quality inspection and finally packaging, handwork is at the core of each working step. Chrono AG believes that the high-quality standards set for their products can only be achieved by working with the traditional manual skills of the watchmaking trade.

Inspection of quality accompanies each working step. All Chrono AG watches are subject to a thorough check of functioning and waterproofness, as well as an intensive visual check.

To ensure the quality and precision of SWISS MILITARY by Chrono watches, only high-quality movements from ETA, Ronda and Sellita Swiss manufacturers are used.

The watch cases are made of high-quality stainless steel or stainless steel with PVD coating.

Almost all SWISS MILITARY by Chrono watches feature Sapphire glass. Only a few models have Sapphire-coated K1 mineral glass, that features a tough, heat-treated aluminum oxide base that resists shattering better than pure sapphire, topped with a synthetic sapphire layer for enhanced scratch resistance.

Water resistance of SWISS MILITARY by Chrono watches ranges from 50 m (It handles rain, hand washing, and light splashes) to 1000 m (Professional watch for diving to depths of up to 1000 meters), depending on the specific watch model.
